thrive on social media without the overwhelm

One of the problems that business owners have is that they want to thrive on social media for their businesses but they can’t help but feel overwhelmed – especially with the many things you must learn and implement to successfully market your business using the different social media platforms.

So, no – YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Even I sometimes get overwhelmed by social media.

I mean, with the many things to consider and do, the notifications I get, and the different information that I absorb just by scrolling through my home page – all these are enough to make my head spin!

So, we thought, why not prepare easy-to-implement tips to help us take back our time and reserve our mental space for the people and things that matter the most – your family and loved ones, your business, your passions and advocacies, and yourself?

Here are five tips to help you thrive on social media without the overwhelm.

1. Define your social media goals and strategies.

People are frequently overwhelmed because they are unsure why they are utilizing social media in the first place and what their success indicators are. Know what you hope to accomplish by using social media. Is it to generate revenue? Raise public awareness? Or do you want to promote brand loyalty and build a community around it?

2. Focus your energies only on relevant platforms.

Remember: Less is more. You don’t have to be present everywhere! BE STRATEGIC in allocating your energy and resources. Just focus on the platforms where your target audience hangs out.

For example: If your target audience are professionals, consider using LinkedIn as your main platform because LinkedIn is most likely where professionals are hanging out. If your products or services are best showcased using photos and graphics, you can focus your energies on Instagram because it is a visual platform.

By choosing to focus your energies only on relevant platforms, you wouldn’t have to spread yourself thinly and thus can thrive on social media without the overwhelm.

3. Plan postings in advance.

Plan and create your content in one go! Brainstorm ideas on what you will post for the next 1-2 weeks (whatever works for you!). Write your idea topics and the type of visuals you’d like to use. Create your graphics, and choose the photos you’d like to share. Write engaging captions for each of your posts.

4. Take a break.

Taking a break from social media for a short time can help you re-energize your creativity and find new sources of inspiration. Allow yourself to be inspired rather than succumb to pressure. Read a book, watch a movie, do a self-care routine, or go for a walk. Come back when you’re ready. Posting quality will always win out over posting for the sake of posting.

5. Be kind to yourself and ask for help.

Getting help for your social media isn’t a sign of failure. It’s an ACT OF KINDNESS TO YOURSELF (goodbye, overwhelm!) and an INVESTMENT IN YOUR BUSINESS (hello, success!). Focus on where you are most needed (e.g., running and growing your business, having more time with your loved ones and family) and find the right person who could help you thrive on social media and scale your business.
